Despite being a so called “anti-war novel”, I decided that what interested me more was the role that time played in this novel, and how it compared to its role in the real world. Specifically, the idea of the non-linearity of time.

How might we be able to become “unstuck in time” in our own way?

“Billy is spastic in time, has no control over where he is going next, and the trips aren’t necessarily fun. He is in a constant state of stage fright, he says, because he never knows what part of his life he is going to have to act in next” (23)

Seeing may be believing, but that does not mean we must go on in complete ignorance of what else might be.
