What I’m listening to

Here’s a few (ha, few) songs (albums) that I’m listening to at the moment. Here’s hoping you can find a favourite, new or old. I guess it kind of goes without saying but I highly recommend all of the songs listed below. Also, these aren’t in any particular order, just whatever comes to mind first, and the songs are listed in order of appearance.

51slstktyslAnastasia (Original Broadway Soundtrack)

Okay so I saw the Broadway show this past summer and it. Was. Amazing. The singing was fantastic and the set was so magical. And Ramin Karimloo (who has one of the greatest singing voices I’ve ever heard) plays Gleb and he’s wonderful. 10/10 show, and I definitely recommend the soundtrack to anyone. Or everyone. My top 5 (as of right now at least) are:

  1. A Rumour in St. Petersburg
  2. In My Dreams
  3. Learn To Do It
  4. Journey To The Past
  5. In a Crowd of Thousands

Joseph and the Amazing Tecnicolour Dreamcoat (Original Canadian Cast Recording)

Such a fun soundtrack! Such a fun show, actually, and Donny Osmond really does have a great voice. Definitely one of my favourite Andrew Lloyd Weber musicals. So here’s 5 of my go-to songs:

  1. Any Dream Will Do
  2. Go, Go, Go Joseph
  3. Song of the King (Seven Fat Cows)
  4. The Brothers Come to Egypt / Grovel, Grovel
  5. Joseph Remix

In the Heights (Original Broadway Cast Recording)

The entire album is wonderful- I’m listening to it right now as I’m writing this. And while I can’t pick a single favourite, here’s my top 5:

  1. In the Heights
  2. Inutil
  3. Blackout
  4. Carnaval Del Barrio
  5. Finale

Hamilton (Original Broadway Cast Recording)

Don’t write me off as Broadway basic just yet. It was basically flashing on a giant marquee everywhere ever, so I kind of had to take a listen, though I’ve only heard up to Blow Us All Away- no spoilers!

  1. My Shot
  2. Right Hand Man
  3. Yorktown
  4. Non-Stop
  5. Cabinet Battle #1

Dear Evan Hansen (Original Broadway Cast Recording)

It’s official. I’m Broadway basic. It’s a newer favourite, this album (ever since I watched the Tonys), but here’s my top 3 all the same:

  1. Waving Through a Window
  2. Sincerely, Me
  3. You Will Be Found

The Producers (Original Broadway Cast Recording)

This was my favourite movie in maybe 2012-ish(?), but I recently found the CD at Half Price Books and it’s wonderful, especially since I haven’t seen the movie in forever. A few of my favourites:

  1. Overture
  2. We Can Do It
  3. I Wanna Be a Producer
  4. Betrayed

Traindragon

How To Train Your Dragon (Music From the Motion Picture)

I played a medley from How To Train Your Dragon last year in band and I loved all of it so naturally I needed the rest of the score. It’s my most recent download but here’s the most memorable of songs:

  1. This is Berk
  2. Forbidden Friendship
  3. Where’s Hiccup
  4. Coming Back Around
  5. Sticks & Stones

the-little-prince

Le Petit Prince (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

A wonderful adaptation (I watched it in English, though the subtitles were in French for some reason…) of everyone’s favourite childhood French classic. The score, I would say, definitely rivals the actual movie in awesomeness.

  1. Equation
  2. Draw Me a Sheep
  3. The Journey
  4. Escape
